Professional Background:

I hold a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Idaho and have been teaching privately for over 40 years. I am also a member of the National Piano Guild. I have given numerous full length vocal recitals singing in 5 languages, and have been a soloist for many musical programs for Capitol Music Club, The Olympia Opera Guild and the Olympia Fine Arts Guild. I was also the Director of the State Capitol Museum’s series of monthly musicales for 5 years, singing in many of the concerts as well as planning all of them. In addition, I was a church choir director and soloist for many years.

In 1968 I received a double award of merit from the National Federation of Music Clubs and in 1977 I received another. I am listed in “Who’s Who in American Women”, Who’s Who in Education”, “Who’s Who in America” and “Who’s Who in the World”. Music has been a constant source of wonder and joy to me for as long as I can remember. It is my fervent hope to bring to my students the same wonder and joy that will last them for their whole life.

I like to teach students a love a music that will last a lifetime and the musicianship skills to continue their exploration of new music after they graduate or move away.

Studio Information:

My studio has 2 recitals per year, the Christmas recital and the Spring recital in June. Both voice and piano students (except adults) are required to take part in the WSMTA Adjudications. Selected students are asked to participate in our OMTA Fall Festival, Sonatina Festival, Piano Guild program and Master Classes. If vocal students cannot demonstrate a reasonable knowledge of music theory, they, like my piano students will be required to study that subject also.
